1. How do I get to the City of Calera's municipal parks?

From the 231 exit (Wal-Mart exit), take Highway 31 South towards Calera. Go about 3 1/2 to 4 miles to 2nd Avenue. Take a right on 2nd Avenue, go to the end of 2nd Avenue and George Roy Recreational Park is on the left.

From the 231 exit (Wal-Mart exit), take Highway 31 South towards Calera. Go through the red lights past the middle school. After passing the middle school, turn right on 20th Avenue and the park is located on the right, behind the Community Center at the corner of 20th Avenue and 14th Street.

2. How do I reserve a park pavilion or the Community Center and what is the cost?

Pricing for pavilion reservations are $15.00 for 1/2 day (6:00 am - 1:30 pm or 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm) or $30.00 for the full day. (Click Here to reserve a pavilion online). 

Community Center reservation fee is $625.00 ($500.00 of this is a deposit and will be refunded if the building is cleaned and not damaged) Contact Wade Hyde at (205) 668-7250 to check availability and scheduling.  

Please Note: All reservations are final and no refunds are available on pavilion reservations

4. What is the distance of the walking tracks at George Roy Park and Oliver Park?

George W. Roy Recreational Park:

• 0.42 miles for the full length of the track
• 0.24 miles if you use the short cut in the trail

Oliver Park:

• 0.26 miles for the track around the football field
• 0.46 miles for the full loop of the nature trail
• 0.15 miles for the front loop of the nature trail
• 0.31 miles for the back loop of the nature trail

5. What are the hours of the Parks and Recreation Department?

Parks and Recreation Department hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. If you need assistance after hours please call the Calera Police Department at (205) 668-3505

6. What are the sizes of the pavilions at the parks?

George W. Roy Recreational Park

Oliver Park

All pavilions at both parks are equipped with power and Bar-B-Que grills.

7. What age groups are associated with the Calera Youth Baseball Association?

8. What are the age group assocaited with youth football and cheerleading and who do I contact?
